It was her third run and first try over 8 furlongs and on the all weather as she had previously run over 7 furlongs on turf at Carlisle and Thirsk. Owned and bred by Lanwades Stud she is half-sister to 7 winners including multiple winners ALEATRICIS, ALL MY HEART and MOSCATO. Her dam is the dual winning NASHWAN mare ALBA STELLA who is a half sister to dual Gr.1 Champion Stakes winning World Champion ALBORADA and to four-time Gr.1 winning Champion ALBANOVA. SEA THE MOON'S SON WINS VALUABLE RACE IN GERMANY
Sensational German Derby winner SEA THE MOON's 2yo son MAN ON THE MOON, bred by Gestüt Görlsdorf, remains unbeaten when impressively winning the very valuable BBAG Auktionsrennen Koln (Auction Race) on Monday night. Bred by SEA THE MOON's owner/breeder Gestüt Görlsdorf, he has now won two from two and is so far Germany's highest rated two-year-old. MAN OF THE MOON was sold at the BBAG September Yearling Sale for €36,000 and is now owned by Stall Dipoli and is trained by Markus Klug who also trained SEA THE MOON. MAN ON THE MOON is the first foal for his dam, MARICEL, who is a dual winner and she has a full-brother to the winner born in February this year which has been named MOND.

THIRD WINNER AS A SIRE FOR SEA THE MOON
CHEVALIER CATHARE became SEA THE MOON’s third first crop winner when just getting up to win the Prix de Villers-Sur-Mer over 7f at Clairefontaine . CHEVALIER CATHARE made a very promising debut when finishing fourth in a Conditions Race at Saint-Cloud on 15th June for his trainer Mr Wattel. CHEVALIER CATHARE was unsold when consigned as a yearling by Haras des Capucines at the Arqana October Yearling Sale. He is a half-brother to German Group 2 winner POETIC DREAM out of Listed Lingfield Oaks Trial winner ZAIN AL BOLDAN. FIRST WINNER AS A SIRE FOR SEA THE MOON
Sensational German Derby winner SEA THE MOON celebrated his first winner as a sire when his two-year-old son MUST SEE THE DOC battled on gamely to win a Novice Stakes at Doncaster over six and a half furlongs yesterday. Trained by Iain Jardine, MUST SEE THE DOC was still a little green after finishing fifth on his debut at Ayr, but really battled on well to deny FOX CHAMPION (a son of KODIAC and a 420,000 gns purchase at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-up Sale) the win. A great win for owner-breeders Mr and Mrs P Rooney and interestingly MUST SEE THE DOC is out of KONG MOON who was by another Lanwades stallion, the late HERNANDO.

FINAL FOALS
Foaling has concluded for the year at Lanwades, and amongst the final batch of arrivals are no fewer than four foals – thankfully three of them fillies – by our much missed former resident ARCHIPENKO.
German Horse of the Year ALBANOVA has a grey full-brother to Group 3 winner ALGOMETER and half-brother to Stakes winning fillies ALWILDA and ALL AT SEA; her half-sister ALMA MATER has a bay filly half-sister to three winners and also to a two-year-old son of LEROIDESANIMAUX who is with John Gosden and has been given the lot-to-live-up-to name HARROVIAN.
The other two ARCHIPENKO filly foals are a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter of NINOTCHKA, one out of that mare’s WITH APPROVAL daughter NEZHENKA, the other the third foal of her STORMY ATLANTIC granddaughter - via NADESZHDA – NIMIETY. NEZHENKA, like ALMA MATER, will now visit BOBBY’S KITTEN and NIMIETY will visit SIR PERCY.
Another member of the ALRUCCABA line to foal in 2018, ALMIRANTA, dam with her first two foals of Group winners ALEA IACTA and ALYSSA, foaled a grey filly by BOBBY’S KITTEN and will now visit SEA THE MOON.
Also with a foal amongst this final batch is NINOTCHKA’s three-time winning AUSSIE RULES daughter NEIGE D’ANTAN, whose first foal is 2017 three-year-old winner NOSTALGIE, and who will visit SEA THE MOON for the third year running this year after foaling a bay colt full-brother to last year’s bay filly by the sire.
Mother and daughter MISS CAP FERRAT and MISS CAP ESTEL, owned by John Pearce Racing Limited, have produced bay fillies by father and son SEA THE STARS and SEA THE MOON. MISS CAP FERRAT’s SEA THE STARS daughter is half-sister to two Listed winners, including MISS CAP ESTEL, whose SEA THE MOON foal has a FRANKEL yearling sister to follow.
BETA, a SELKIRK half-sister to Arc winner and European Champion BAGO as well as Group 1 winner and sire MAXIOS, has a bay filly by EXCEED AND EXCEL; BOHEMIAN DANCE, a daughter of European Champion ISLINGTON, has a bay filly by LEMON DROP KID. These two mares are amongst an excellent book of mares being covered in 2018 by BOBBY’S KITTEN.
MARIA DI SCOZIA, a SELKIRK granddaughter of Italian Champion three-year-old filly and Horse of the Year MARIA WALESKA, has a bay colt by SIR PERCY and will return to him this year.
KESARA, dam of five winners, two of them in 2018 – NIGHT OF GLORY (now winner of 3 races having previously won a maiden in 2017) and ZAAKI, has produced a bay colt from the first crop of Irish 2000 Guineas winner AWTAAD. She will now visit SEA THE MOON.
GRAIN ONLY, dam of five winners including Australian Group 3 winner CARAVAN ROLLS ON and ZANJABEEL, who won a Grade 1 hurdle in America earlier in the month, foaled a bay colt by BOBBY’S KITTEN this year. Her lovely yearling filly by SEA THE STARS will go to the sales this Autumn.
HERE TO ETERNITY, dam of ARCHIPENKO’s dual Hong Kong Group 1 scorer TIME WARP, has a 2018 half-sister foal to that horse by OASIS DREAM. HERE TO ETERNITY’s LEROIDESANIMAUX two-year-old filly HEATWAVE is in training with Sir Mark Prescott. HERE TO ETERNITY will be covered by BOBBY’S KITTEN this year.
The final boarding mare to foal, BITE OF THE CHERRY, has a GLENEAGLES filly to follow her DUTCH ART two-year-old colt and SEA THE STARS yearling filly. A Stakes placed winning daughter of DALAKHANI and Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner BIANCA NERA, BITE OF THE CHERRY has something to live up to as three of her siblings have produced Group winners, one of them, EVER RIGG, being dam of POSTPONED.

MORE FOALS ARRIVE IN MARCH AND APRIL
Nine more foals arrived in the second half of March and into early April, no fewer than six of them from the ALRUCCABA family.
All three of those not tracing to ALRUCCABA are out of Group winners, arguably the highlight amongst them being the INVINCIBLE SPIRIT filly out of ARCHIPENKO’s Gr.1 Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes winning daughter MADAME CHIANG. The bay is the second foal, and second filly, for her dam following last year’s daughter by KINGMAN.
The other pair are a colt out of dual Group 3 winner CUBANITA and a filly produced by Gr.3 Prix d’Arenberg winner and Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes runner-up STARLIT SANDS. CUBANITA’s colt is by GLENEAGLES and is her third straight colt in as many foals – her KINGMAN two-year-old first foal is with Simon Crisford and has been named KUNG FU. The filly out of STARLIT SANDS is by BOBBY’S KITTEN and is half-sister to two winners, the mare’s first two foals, and to a SEA THE STARS two-year-old colt named STARFIGHTER who is with Tom Dascombe and a GALILEO colt now yearling.
Two of the ALRUCCABA family arrivals are also by BOBBY’S KITTEN. ALINSTANTE, a daughter of ARCHIPENKO who won three times at two and took a Timeform mark of 100+, has a first foal bay colt; ALBACOCCA, a winning daughter of WITH APPROVAL who has ARCHIPENKO two-year-old filly ALDENTE with Andrew Balding this year and also an ARCHIPENKO yearling colt, now also has a grey BOBBY’S KITTEN filly and will visit SIR PERCY. Also down to visit SIR PERCY this year is ALTERNANTHERA, a NAYEF half-sister to Derby runner-up DRAGON DANCER whose FAST COMPANY bay colt is her first foal.
The other three ALRUCCABA family arrivals are a bay or grey filly by KINGMAN out of SIR PERCY’s Group winning daughter ALLA SPERANZA; a grey FASCINATING ROCK filly out of ALBORADA’s unraced MONTJEU daughter ALTRUISTE; and a third foal colt by ARCHIPENKO out of Group-placed (and Gr.1 Prix Saint Alary fourth) ALUMNA, whose first produce YOUARESTAR (by SEA THE STARS) is a 2018 two-year-old with Ed Dunlop.

MARCH ARRIVALS
The first half of March was very quiet for foalings, with just four arrivals at the stud and one Lanwades-bred foal born in Kentucky. The last-named is a chesnut colt from the first crop of 2016 Kentucky Derby winner NYQUIST, and a first live foal for Argentinian Group 3 winner KARAMELA, a half-sister by MASTERCRAFTSMAN to Irish Listed (Lanwades/Staffordstown Silken Glider Stakes) winner GEMSTONE out of a KINGMAMBO half-sister to Irish 2000 Guineas winner BACHELOR DUKE.
The local foals are colts by ARCHIPENKO, SEA THE MOON, and THE GURKHA, and a filly by GOLDEN HORN. She is half-sister, out of SELKIRK’s winning daughter ALBARAKA (great-granddaughter of ALRUCCABA), to OASIS CHARM, the mare’s first foal, who has now won two races after winning on his seasonal debut at Chelmsford last week. The mare also has a three-year-old filly, ALACRITAS, and a yearling colt, both by LEROIDESANIMAUX.
Two of the colts are also from the ALRUCCABA family. One is an ARCHIPENKO second foal, after last year’s LEROIDESANIMAUX colt, for Group 3 Prix Thomas Bryon winner ALEA IACTA, a half-sister to 2017 Group 2 Park Hill Stakes winner ALYSSA and a great, great, great-granddaughter of ALRUCCABA. ALEA IACTA will now visit SEA THE MOON, sire of a first foal colt out of A L’ANGLAISE, a winning INVINCIBLE SPIRIT mare whose fourth dam is ALRUCCABA and whose dam is half-sister to Derby runner-up DRAGON DANCER.
Also down to be covered this season by SEA THE MOON is KASTANIA, a winning daughter of successful MR PROSPECTOR horse GONE WEST and SELKIRK’s Group 1 winning daughter KASTORIA, who has a bay colt by first season sire and Champion miler THE GURKHA.

FURTHER FEBRUARY FOALS
After a rush of arrivals early in the month, the further February flow was steadier, and by month’s end another nine foals had been born at Lanwades.
Of the nine, no fewer than four are by our much-missed recently deceased resident ARCHIPENKO, all of them colts. Pride of place amongst them has to go to the full-brother to Gr.1 Qipco Fillies and Mares Champion Stakes winner MADAME CHIANG. The bay colt is the fourth ARCHIPENKO foal out of his dam, ROBE CHINOISE, following MADAME CHIANG, her juvenile winning sister CHINOISERIES, and a now two-year-old colt, as yet unnamed, in training with Mark Johnston.
The other ARCHIPENKO colts are bays out of HELVETIA (a full-brother to last year’s first foal filly) and MOHAFAZAAT (the first Lanwades-bred produce for a granddaughter of HEIGHT OF FASHION whose five named foals have already provided four winners), and a bay or grey fourth foal for ALL MY HEART, full-brother to that mare’s 2018 two-year-old daughter ALL BEST WISHES.
ALL MY HEART, HELVETIA and MOHAFAZAAT will all now visit BOBBY’S KITTEN, who has another first-crop foal on the ground in the shape of a second foal filly out of BIPARTISAN, a winning half-sister to Group 3 Winter Derby winner ROBIN HOODS BAY out of half-sister to the dam of Champion POSTPONED.
CARIBANA and DIABLERETTE each have bay daughters by SEA THE MOON. The latter’s is half-sister to three winners and full-sister to her sire’s two-year-old first-crop son PONDUS, an 80,000 guineas yearling now in training with James Fanshawe. CARIBANA’s filly is also half-sibling to three winners, notably dual Group 3 – John Porter Stakes and St Simon Stakes – winner CUBANITA, but also including 2018 three-year-old novice stakes winner for Mark Johnston AQUARIUM. CARIBANA now visits BOBBY’S KITTEN; DIABLERETTE returns to SEA THE MOON.
Lanwades third-generation matron JOLIE BLONDE, a three-time winning SIR PERCY daughter of a HERNANDO full-sister to seven-time Listed winner FOREIGN AFFAIRS, has a WORTHADD colt second foal to add her 2017 ARCHIPENKO filly. And Mr and Mrs Johnny Johnstone’s SHE’S GORGEOUS, a dual-winning ACCLAMATION daughter of a half-sister to Gr.1 Dubai World Cup winner PRINCE BISHOP, will now visit SIR PERCY after producing a MUKHADRAM filly second foal.
15th March 2018
PRESENTING PERCY A MOST IMPRESSIVE WINNER OF THE GR.1 RSA NOVICES' CHASE
PRESENTING PERCY, a seven –year-old son of SIR PERCY was a most impressive winner of the Gr.1 RSA Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He travelled smoothly at the rear of the field as a strong gallop was set. He crept into the race five fences out and cruised to the front turning for home. He powered up the hill to score by seven lengths with the third a further seven lengths away. A bumper and dual hurdle winner at five, PRESENTING PERCY progressed through handicaps to win the Listed Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle at last year’s festival. He got his chase career off to a winning start and was third in the Gr.2 Florida Pearl Novice Chase and he was second in the Gr.2 Red Mills Chase winning the Gr.2 Galmoy Hurdle in between. He was bred by Johnny Weatherby of Preston Lodge Stud and was sold as a foal at the Tattersalls Ireland November Foal Sale. It was a great win for all the connections and he certainly is a very exciting horse for the future.

A RECORD-BREAKING SECOND GROUP 1 VICTORY FOR TIME WARP
Lanwades-bred TIME WARP won his second Group 1 after taking the Gr.1 Citi Hong Kong Gold Cup yesterday defeating former Horse of the Year WERTHER. He even managed to set a new record - the final time of 1:59.97 was the first time in history that the 2 minute mark had been broken over the Sha Tin 2000 metres. TIME WARP had previously won the Gr.1 Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin comfortably by 2 ¼ lengths in December last year. TIME WARP, was sold as a yearling when consigned by Staffordstown Stud to Jeremy Brummitt at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. He went on to win four races as a two-year-old which culminated in him winning the Listed Criterium de l’Quest at Craon in France. He then won the Listed Prix de Pontarme at Saint-Cloud over a mile on his debut at three for his then trainer Sir Mark Prescott. He then went over to Hong Kong and had his first run for new trainer A S Cruz in January last year and after a few runs, his first win in Hong Kong came in June at Happy Valley where he went on to win again at the end of June. TIME WARP wrapped up his first season with an impressive win in the Sha Tin Mile Trophy Handicap over a mile. He opened up his second Hong Kong season with two Group 3 placings followed by a Group 2 second beaten a neck by WERTHER. He is a most talented son of ARCHIPENKO and seems to be improving all the time. He has now earned over £2.6 million in prize money.

FEBRUARY FOALS
A rush of early February arrivals has made up for a slow start in January, with 10 further foals on the ground before the end of the first week.
Two of the ten, one of each sex, are from the final crop of Lanwades’ much-missed ARCHIPENKO. ALL AT SEA, triple Listed-winning daughter of German Horse of the Year ALBANOVA, has a second foal filly after last year’s daughter by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT. And AKSAYA, an unraced daughter of SEA THE STARS and Lanwades-bred Group 3 winner AKDARENA, has a first foal son.
AKSAYA is one of four February foalers slotted to join the book of BOBBY’S KITTEN this year. The other three are SEYCHELLOISE, a four-time winning daughter of PIVOTAL and Group 3 Prix d’Arenberg scorer STARLIT SANDS, who has a first foal colt by SEA THE STARS; and two winning daughters of ARCHIPENKO - ARCHDUCHESS, who has a third foal (second filly) daughter by SIR PERCY and WAVELET, a granddaughter of European Champion filly RAMRUMA, whose first foal is a filly by first-crop sire THE GURKHA.
Already foaled to BOBBY’S KITTEN in 2018, and both with bay colts, are EMINENCIA, (dam of ARCHDUCHESS, and also of the Italian Stakes-placed filly EDYA) and LUISA CALDERON, a NAYEF full-sister to German Champion and French Group 1 winner LADY MARIAN, who was producing her second foal after a SEA THE STARS filly and who now visits SIR PERCY.
Another with a first foal filly by SEA THE STARS is ALAMODE, a juvenile winning daughter of SIR PERCY (and granddaughter of World Champion ALBORADA) also second in Newmarket’s Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes.
New-to Lanwades FRESH STRIKE, an Arqana December 2017 acquisition, also has a first foal, hers a colt from the first crop of Prix Ganay winner DARIYAN. FRESH STRIKE is a dual-winning daughter of SMART STRIKE – she will visit BOBBY’S KITTEN this year
The remaining arrival amongst early February’s ‘top ten’, and yet another first foal, is a ZOFFANY colt bred by John Pearce Racing Ltd out of BEST FRIEND, who is an unraced full-sister to Irish Champion filly and multiple Group 1 (including Coronation Stakes) winner LUSH LASHES.

Fillies out of HERNANDO full-sisters ALBORETTA and ALTESSE are amongst six foals, three of each sex, born at Lanwades in January. ALBORETTA’s, the first arrival of the year at the stud, is also the first foal by Lanwades’ stunning new horse BOBBY’S KITTEN. Her dam, whose second filly this is following last year’s first foal by WORTHADD, will return to BOBBY’S KITTEN. Her Listed-winning sister ALTESSE has a first foal filly by GLENEAGLES.
