STAFFORDSTOWN CONSIGNED YEARLING TOPS A MILLION AT GOFFS
Yearling filly by GALILEO out of high class juvenile STARLIT SANDS was sold at Goffs Orby Sale yesterday for €1,050,000 when consigned by Staffordstown. STARLIT SANDS won the Gr.3 Prix d’Arenberg as well as finishing second in the Gr.2 Queen Mary. She is from the family of Gr.3 winner SONGERIE and the Gr.1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner PETOSKI. She was purchased by Oliver St Lawrence acting for Fawzi Nass and Oliver said “Fawzi and I came over to Ireland about three weeks ago to look at yearlings and we saw her then. I’m not sure who will train her, but in the long term she’s a filly who will be a good addition to the stud. I had hoped to pay a little less, but when something comes in with a bit of pedigree you’ve got to put your head down.”

A LISTED WIN FOR TIME WARP
TIME WARP makes it four wins in a row after an impressive victory in the Listed Criterium de l’Ouest at Craon yesterday. TIME WARP is a Lanwades-bred two-year-old son of ARCHIPENKO and has progressed from race to race. He got off the mark in a median auction at Southwell before landing a nursery at Sandown, then a novice contest at Redcar and has now won his first Stakes race. He was consigned by Staffordstown when sold to Jeremy Brummitt at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. TIME WARP is the first foal out of the winning STORMY ATLANTIC mare HERE TO ETERNITY whose second, a full-brother to the winner is Lot 902 in the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2 selling next month. ARCHIPENKO‘s impressive statistics continue - he is a leading European sire of two-year-olds by percentage winners to runners.

A LISTED WIN FOR ALGONQUIN
ARCHIPENKO’s son ALGONQUIN won his fourth consecutive race last night and gained his very first Black-type when taking the Listed Ruby Stakes at Killarney over a mile and half a furlong. ALONGQUIN’s jockey settled him on the rail in about fifth and he moved well throughout the race, coming to challenge around 2f out and he was always doing enough to win. ALGONQUIN has now won four out his five starts and really is a tough and progressive sort. ALGONQUIN was beaten on his debut, but put this quickly behind him to win his maiden at Dundalk last October and has won handicaps at The Curragh and Naas this year. Bred by Kirsten Rausing and owned in partnership with Mrs Jackie Bolger, ALGONQUIN is a half-brother to the Listed winner ALVARITA (dam of Gr.3 winner ALLA SPERANZA), the French Gr.2 placed multiple winner ALBION and the Listed-placed winner ALBARAKA out of World Champion and dual Gr.1 Champion Stakes winner ALBORADA. ALGONQUIN is trained by Jim Bolger and is the last foal of ALBORADA

A LOVELY MAIDEN WINNER FOR SIR PERCY
Lanwades-bred ALAMODE showed a great attitude to racing rallying back after being headed in the final furlong to win the Markel Insurance Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood yesterday.  She is trained like her sire SIR PERCY by Marcus Tregoning and was also ridden like her sire by Martin Dwyer.  This was her second start after running a bit green on her deubt at Newbury although she was a staying on fourth on that occasion.  ALAMODE is the fourth foal and second winner of ALMAMIA, a daughter of dual Gr.1 Champion Stakes winner ALBORADA.

IMPRESSIVE US DEBUT FOR DAUGHTER OF ARCHIPENKO
MARABEA made a most impressive US debut at Delawere yesterday in an allowance race to score quite cosily in the end by a very promising two lengths.  She was very much behind the pack and when asked for an effort she picked up only to come up against a wall of horses, but the daughter of ARCHIPENKO showed a sharp turn of foot to bravely fight through to win. MARABEA started her career in Italy, winning two races and finishing 2nd in the Gr.3 Premio Doremello in October last year as a two-year-old.  Bred by Charley Knoll Partnership she is now owned by Team Valor International and Lael Stables and is a very exciting prospect for the future.

Lanwades bred filly ALL AT SEA out of ALBANOVA claimed her third stakes victory yesterday winning the Listed Prix de la Pepiniere at Maisons-Laffitte for trainer Andre Fabre with another Lanwades bred filly, PERSONA GRATA, by SIR PERCY as runner up. The two fillies were field companions at Staffordstown Stud as yearlings.
MEDRANO by Lanwades sire ARCHIPENKO also gained a well deserved Listed win when he took The EBF Stallions Glasgow Stakes (Listed) at Hamilton Park on Friday evening. The David Brown trained three-year old son of ARCHIPENKO has tallied up a number of stakes places but this his first black type win.

THIRD SUCCESS FOR OFFSPRING OF WORLD CHAMPION ALBORADA
Three-year-old ALGONQUIN, by ARCHIPENKO out of World Champion, dual Champion Stakes winner ALBORADA, gained his third win (from four lifetime runs) at Naas on July 8th. The improving colt is half-brother to two stallions in South Africa, ALADO (by Danzig) and ALBION (by With Approval), the latter of whom will retire to stud there in 2016. ALGONQUIN’s stakes-winning sister ALVARITA is the dam of Gr 3 winner ALLA SPERANZA and granddam of 2yo Gr 3 winner ALEA IACTA. ANOTHER DOUBLE FOR LANWADES SIRES
There was another double at the weekend when both Lanwades sires ARCHIPENKO and AUSSIE RULES had Derby winners – firstly ARCHIPENKO, the sire of VA BANK (IRE) who won the Polish Derby and remains unbeaten from six starts and AUSSIE RULES, the sire of QUELINDO (GER) winner of the Hungarian Derby to remain unbeaten from four starts. Both VA BANK (IRE) and QUELINDO (GER) are dual classic winners, taking both the 2,000 Guineas and Derby in their own countries making Lanwades sires ARCHIPENKO and AUSSIE RULES great value.

A MEMORABLE GROUP DOUBLE FOR SIR PERCY
Lanwades sire SIR PERCY had a memorable two days when WAKE FOREST won a Group 3 on Friday and LADY TIANA won a Group 2 on Saturday.  WAKE FOREST ran out a very determined winner of the Gr.3 Hamburg Trophy run over a mile and a quarter at Hamburg in Germany.  This was a second Group 3 win for the progressive son of SIR PERCY who also finished third in the Gr.1 Premio Presidente della Repubblica at the Capannelle in May this year.  He has now won nearly £200,000 in prize money and is the winner of five races from nine starts

The second Group winner was LADY TIANA who was a cosy winner of the feature race at Haydock on Saturday, the very competitive Gr.2 Lancashire Oaks.  The now four-year-old daughter of SIR PERCY was held up in mid-division and although she did not have a clear run she stayed on really strongly to win by three quarters of a length. This was her first win at Group level, although she won the Listed Gillies Fillies’ Stakes last November.  Her trainer, Lucy Wadham, reports that she will probably have a little holiday now and will then be aimed at the Gr.1 Champion Fillies and Mares Stakes on Champions day at Ascot in October.  LADY TIANA is owned by a group which includes her breeders Anthony and Victoria Pakenham, in whose colours SIR PERCY won the 2006 Epsom Derby.

AN EXCITING NEW 2YO STAKES WINNER FOR AUSSIE RULES
AUSSIE RULES looks to have a promising daughter in two-year-old LA VACANZA after she won the Listed Premio Vittorio Crespi yesterday at San Siro.  After having finished second in the Listed Premio Alessandro Perrone twelve days earlier she stayed on strongly inside the final furlong to score by two and three-quarter lengths to register her first win in great style.  AUSSIE RULES is now the sire of 95 individual two-year-old winners.  At the moment, he stands second only to DUBAWI in the table of leading British-based sires in 2015 by number of winners in Europe.

21st May 2015
CLASSIC WINNER FOR ARCHIPENKO
VA BANK, a three-year-old son of ARCHIPENKO, was a three length winner of the Polish 2,000 Guineas at the weekend.  VA BANK is from the second crop of ARCHIPENKO, was bred by Airlie Stud and sold as a yearling at Tattersalls Ireland September Sales.  He is now unbeaten in five starts and his winnings now tally over £26,000.  ARCHIPENKO is the sire of Gr.1 and Gr.3 winner MADAME CHIANG and 2015 Gr.2 and Gr.3 winner KINGSTON MINES.  He is, at present, the Leading European sire of two-year-olds from 2012 to 2015 with 52.3% winners to runners.

11th May 2015
AN EXCITING NEW STAKES WINNER FOR SIR PERCY
Three-year-old filly NEWSLETTER could be on course to run at Royal Ascot again this year after winning the Listed Kilvington Fillies’ Stakes at Nottingham run over 6f on Saturday.  The speedy daughter of SIR PERCY won a 5f maiden at The Curragh on her debut at two.  Trained in Ireland by Ken Condon, she came over to Royal Ascot and finished a very close third to ANTHEM ALEXANDER and TIGGY WIGGY in the Gr.2 Queen Mary and she could well be heading back there for the new Commonwealth Cup, she may well have a run in Ireland before then, possibly at Naas or in the Ballyogan Stakes at Leopardstown. Also running well at the weekend was another progeny of SIR PERCY, this time the now five-year-old WAKE FOREST who finished a very credible third in the Gr.1 Presidente Della Repubblica in Rome and was only beaten just over two lengths.

SELECT GROUP OF MARES FOR ARCHIPENKO PRODUCE RECENT FOALS
Listed Stakes winner KISWAHILI, dam of stakes winner KINETICA and two other multiple winners, is set to be covered this year by ARCHIPENKO, having recently produced a bay filly by leading US sire EXCHANGE RATE. The filly is also sibling to KINETICA'S two-year-old STORMY ATLANTIC full-brother (in training with James Tate) and a yearling colt by Breeders Cup Classic winner (and relative of ARCHIPENKO) BLAME. KISWAHILI is half-sister to ROBE CHINOISE, dam of ARCHIPENKO's 2014 Group 1 British Champion Fillies and Mares Stakes winner MADAME CHIANG.

Another from MADAME CHIANG’s family set to visit ARCHIPENKO is MONDA (a granddaughter of KISWAHILI's half-sister KIMONO), who already has a yearling daughter by ARCHIPENKO, and whose 2015 foal, her third filly in as many foals, is a bay daughter of AUSSIE RULES.

Also amongst this year's book for ARCHIPENKO is ALMAMIA, whose 2015 foal, a bay filly by SEA THE STARS, is a close relative to recent French Listed winner ALL AT SEA (by SEAT THE STARS ex ALBANOVA, sister to ALMAMIA's dam ALBORADA). ALMAMIA's winning first-foal daughter ALOHA (by WITH APPROVAL) had a first-foal filly by ARCHIPENKO last month.

FURTHER FOALS
The winning mare CARIBANA, dam of SELKIRK's dual G.3 winning daughter CUBANITA, has foaled a chestnut colt by LEROIDESANIMAUX. CARIBANA has 2014 juvenile winning daughter CAMAGUEYANA by ARCHIPENKO (Ralph Beckett) and her two year old full-brother (Ed Dunlop) to run for her year and a yearling colt by AUSSIE RULES to come, and now joins the first-season book of SEA THE MOON.
LA FELICITA, dam of German Champion three-year-old filly and French Gr.1 winner LADY MARIAN, has produced a colt by LAWMAN. LADY MARIAN is one of seven winners for LA FELICITA, who has a three-year-old NAYEF daughter, LUISA CALDERON (an own sister to LADY MARIAN), and a two-year-old CAPE CROSS colt to run for her this year.

MEMORY LANE, a two-time winner by WITH APPROVAL and a descendant of Swedish Champion two-year-old filly HIGHLIGHT, has had her third colt from as many foals, this one a bay by PICCOLO. Her two-year-old is by ARCHIPENKO and is in training in Ireland with Paul Deegan and her yearling is by MAWATHEEQ.

Finally, British Bloodstock Agency-owned boarder SANTA AGATA has had a chestnut colt by MASTERCRAFTSMAN. A daughter of ANABAA and a two-year-old winner herself in Saint-Cloud, SANTA AGATA, who is from the family of leading Australian sires FLYING SPUR and ENCOSTA DE LAGO, has a two-year-old colt by MAKFI in training with Tony Coyle and a second foal filly by EXCEED AND EXCEL

LEROIDESANIMAUX FOALS
Three first European crop foals, two colts and a filly, by LEROIDESANIMAUX are among recent arrivals at Lanwades.
The first, a colt out of OVAL OFFICE, is half-brother to Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes winner GLASS OFFICE and to HERNANDO's Timeform 100 rated 2014 dual winner CAPTAIN MORLEY. Their dam, an unbeaten two-time winning daughter of Queen Mary Stakes winner PUSHY, has a two-year-old daughter, MS GILLARD, in training with CAPTAIN MORLEY's handler David Simcock and a yearling colt by ARCHIPENKO.
A second colt arrival is the third foal of the winning GALILEO mare ALABELLE, half-brother to A L'ANGLAISE, an INVINCIBLE SPIRIT two-year-old filly with Andre Fabre, and to a yearling colt by LAWMAN. ALABELLE is half-sister to Derby runner-up DRAGON DANCER out of Broodmare of the Year ALOUETTE's HERNANDO daughter ALAKANANDA, herself a half sister to dual Champion Stakes winner ALBORADA and triple Gr.1 winner ALBANOVA.
The LEROIDESANIMAUX filly is a daughter of the winning GALILEO mare CLAIOMH SOLAIS. Second and third in Curragh Group 3's and fourth at Group 1 level in both the Irish 1000 Guineas and the Pretty Polly Stakes, CLAIOMH SOLAIS is full-sister to CUIS GHAIRE (Group 3 Royal Ascot winner and runner-up in the Irish 1000 Guineas), SCINTILLULA (Group 3 winner and second in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes) and GILE NA GREINE, who was placed in both the Irish 1000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes. CLAIOMH SOLAIS’ first foal is the ACCLAMATION two-year-old CLEAR CUT (with J S Bolger) and she has a yearling filly by ARCHIPENKO; she now visits SEA THE MOON.

FURTHER FOALS
A filly by AUSSIE RULES and colts by a diverse group of successful sires - PIVOTAL, SPEIGHTSTOWN, LEROIDESANIMAUX and ARCHIPENKO - are the latest foal additions at Lanwades.
The filly is a bay fourth foal out of STERLING SOUND, an Ascot three-year-old winner by STREET CRY out of European Champion Middle-distance three-year-old filly LADY IN SILVER. The mare's second foal is the 2014 Italian two-year-old winner WORGAIT and she has a yearling full-sister to that horse and now visits LEROIDESANIMAUX.
Two Lanwades arrivals in Newmarket are a pair who each trace to NUREYEV's dam SPECIAL; a bay by BAHAMIAN BOUNTY and a chestnut by ARCHIPENKO. The latter, like MADAME CHIANG is line-bred to SPECIAL (since she also features as granddam of ARCHIPENKO), is the second foal of NEZHENKA, a Timeform 100 rated twice-winning Lanwades-bred daughter of WITH APPROVAL and NINOTCHKA. NEZHENKA's first foal is a yearling daughter of AUSSIE RULES, already named NASTENKA.
The BAHAMIAN BOUNTY colt is the third foal of HERE TO ETERNITY, a winning daughter of German stakes winner HEAT OF THE NIGHT, herself a daughter of Brazilian Group winner HOT THONG, whose dam THONG THONG THONG was half-sister to NINOTCHKA. HERE TO ETERNITY's first two foals are a pair of colts by ARCHIPENKO, the elder TIME WARP a two-year-old of 2015 in training with Sir Mark Prescott.
In Kentucky, meanwhile, ALBAMARA has produced a bay colt first foal by leading sire SPEIGHTSTOWN. A winner at two and stakes-placed three times at three, ALBAMARA is an impeccably-bred daughter of GALILEO and German Horse of the Year ALBANOVA. ALBANOVA’s dual stakes winning daughter ALL AT SEA and three-time winning HERNANDO daughter ALWILDA remain in training as older horses in 2015 and ALL AT SEA is already successful this year in the Listed Prix Zarkava at Saint-Cloud on 1st April.
Finally, Mr John Pearce's stakes winning successful producer MISS CORNICHE has a bay colt by PIVOTAL, a half-brother to four multiple winners including Ebor Handicap winner MOYENNE CORNICHE and a full-brother to three-year-old filly MS GRANDE CORNICHE in training with Andrew Balding for her breeder, who also has GALILEO two-year-old and OASIS DREAM yearling fillies still to come for him out of the mare.

SEA THE MOON CROWNED HORSE OF THE YEAR
Lanwades’ new sire in 2015 SEA THE MOON has been crowned German Horse of the Year for 2014.  Last year’s sensational German Derby winner was voted the winner with Melbourne Cup hero PROTECTIONIST in second and dual Group 1 winner IVANHOWE in third.  Bred and raced by Gestüt Görlsdorf  (Heike Bishcoff-Lafrentz and Niko Lafrentz), SEA THE MOON is from the first crop of 6-time Group 1 winner and current young sire sensation SEA THE STARS. He was trained by Markus Klug who sent him out to win a Cologne maiden by four lengths on his sole start at two and then as a three-year-old he went on to win the Gr.3 Fruhjahrs-Preis at Frankfurt by two lengths and then made all to win the Gr.2 Union-Rennen back at Cologne before his breathtaking performance in the German Derby.  Only a career finishing knee injury in the Gr.1 Grosser Preis Von Baden put an end to his unbeaten record. SEA THE MOON has received strong support in his first year at stud from Lanwades and Gestüt Görlsdorf as well as from outside breeders.  Among his first book of mares is NORTH EAST BAY, the dam of recent World Cup hero PRINCE BISHOP.

IMPRESSIVE SEASONAL DEBUT WIN FOR ALL AT SEA
Lanwades-bred four-year-old filly ALL AT SEA was a most impressive winner on her seasonal debut of the Listed Prix Zarkova (named after one of France’s best fillies) at Saint-Cloud yesterday.  ALL AT SEA made a winning debut last year as a three-year-old at Longchamp, she then finished fourth in a Listed race at Compiegne before going on to win the Listed Prix de Liancourt for three-year-old fillies.  She had another two runs in Group races and although unplaced she was never far behind the winner.  She has certainly started her four-year-old campaign in great style winning this Listed contest by six lengths.  ALL AT SEA is from the first crop of World Champion SEA THE STARS and is out of three-time Gr.1 winner Lanwades-bred ALBANOVA, a full sister to dual Gr.1 Champion Stakes winner ALBORADA.  ALBANOVA herself has already produced two other Stakes horses, the three-time Listed-placed winner ALBAMARA and three-time winner and Listed-placed ALWILDA.

ANOTHER GROUP WIN FOR SON OF ARCHIPENKO
ARCHIPENKO’s son KINGSTON MINES followed up his impressive win in the Gr.2  J & B Urban Stayers at Kenilworth where he led from start to finish with an equally exciting win in the Gr.3 Caradoc Gold Cup, this time coming off the pace to win by one and a quarter lengths.  Bred by Miss K Rausing and Mrs S Rogers, KINGSTON MINES was purchased by the South African-based Form Bloodstock Agency as a yearling from Goffs Orby Yearling Sale when consigned by Staffordstown.  He is out of the very well related four-time winning NASHWAN mare ALEXANDRINE who is the dam of seven other winners including Listed-placed winners ALAMBIC and ALLANNAH ABU.  ARCHIPENKO had another Black-type result on the day when three-year-old colt MEDRANO (who was a winner and Listed-placed as a two-year-old) finished second in the Listed Prix Francois Mathet at Saint-Cloud. ARCHIPENKO has now sired a Gr.1 winner (MADAME CHIANG), KINGSTON MINES (winner of a Gr.2 and a Gr.3) as well as a Listed winner LADY PENKO (FR) from his first crop.

FURTHER FOALS

The mare, a winning SELKIRK granddaughter of Italian Horse of the Year MARIA WALESKA, will visit AUSSIE RULES.

Another with a 2015 winner to her name visiting AUSSIE RULES is OBLIGE, who also has a bay filly, this one a daughter of Italian Champion DUBAWI horse WORTHADD and a half-sister to ARCHIPENKO's recent easy Chelmsford winner BARYE winner of two races from three starts this year. Also amongst this year's book for AUSSIE RULES is Listed winner FROSTY WELCOME, whose 2015 foal is a grey NORTH LIGHT colt who is half-brother to four winners.

Two mares bound for breeding shed encounters shortly with new Lanwades horse SEA THE MOON have each produced a foal to a 2014 covering in Ireland. SOFT MORNING, a Listed winner in Paris herself and dam of black type performers with her first two foals in SAVANNA LA MAR and SO IN LOVE, has a filly from the first crop of top miler DECLARATION OF WAR. BOARDING ARRIVALS
Four boarding mares are amongst those to have foaled already at Lanwades. Two of them are the British Bloodstock Agency-owned young pair ARAQELLA and SWINGLAND. ARAQELLA, a full-sister to Gr.1 Prix du Moulin winner AQLAAM out of a half-sister to Champion stayer PERSIAN PUNCH, also has a bay filly, hers a first foal by DARK ANGEL.

The other pair of foalers are the Stakes winning MISS ANABAA and MISS CAP ESTEL, who have both also produced fillies. Also amongst the early foalers are two Lanwades-bred Listed winners - KINETICA and SOURIRE. The former has a SEA THE STARS bay filly second foal. She will join her dam KISWAHILI in visiting ARCHIPENKO, whose first-crop Group 1-winning daughter MADAME CHIANG is out of KISWAHILI’s half-sister ROBE CHINOISE. The final foaler in this bunch is Mr John Pearce's MISS KATMANDU, who has a bay/grey colt by AUSSIE RULES. A half-sister to Group winners ST EXPEDIT and ASIAN HEIGHTS, MISS KATMANDU is dam already of a very useful horse in HERNANDO's five-time winning son KASHGAR. She has a two-year-old full-brother to this year's colt with Sir Mark Prescott, wonderfully-named TENZING NORGAY, and returns again to AUSSIE RULES.
